Volunteers

Volunteer receptionists

We are based in Barnfield Hill, Exeter and have 40 volunteer counsellors working with us over 4 days a week.  We are reliant on volunteers to help us cover the reception on Monday/Tuesday/Thursday evenings.  This is an opportunity to volunteer in a busy counselling service and to gain an insight into the operation of our charity.   The evenings can have busy times but also quiet times in between sessions and volunteers are welcome to bring their reading/college work with them to do in these quieter times.  This is an ideal opportunity for work based learning.  Shifts available:  Tuesday 4.00 – 8.15pm.  We provide a thorough induction and support for new volunteers.  We ask for a minimum of 4 months commitment for this post.  If you are interested send a CV to the email address below.

Trustees

The Margaret Jackson Trust is the charity which oversees the Margaret Jackson Centre.  We have a small Board of Trustees who oversee the work of the Centre and the operation of the Trust, which owns the building.  We currently have three trustees on Board and are looking to extend the number of trustees.  If you have skills that you think would benefit our Charity please email the Manager at the address below for an informal chat or to request more details.

Volunteer counsellors

Our counselling service is provided by a team of 40 counsellors who give their services for free to enable us to offer affordable counselling to over 130 clients each week.  If you are either a qualified counsellor/Psychotherapist or a student from the second year onwards of a degree or diploma in counselling/psychotherapy then do send your details to the Manager.  Please send in a CV with details of your training and employment history, a photograph of yourself and the names and full contact details of two referees (students should ensure that one referee is a tutor and one is a work referee).  CVs should be sent to the Manager on the email below.  We recruit twice a year, but applications can be kept on file until the next recruitment dates.

Details should be sent to:
